Who would know that turning on our outdoor fountain would change our lives. Who would know that Birds we had never seen would come and shower daily. A few examples include the Red-tailed Hawk, Cedar Wax-wings , Mountain Blue Birds, Grosbeaks, American Goldfinches, even the lone Lazule Bunting has come to use the Fountain! Then there are the regulars like the Finches , the Sparrows, even the Red-tail is now a regular. I have had rare warbles come and for the first year I would sit out by the front door for hours to see what I could get photos of. Once and only once I was able to get photos of the Black-throated Gray Warbler enjoying the fountain!
This year , as the above photo shows we have the male and female Grosbeaks enjoying the fountain. It is so fun to watch them all bath in the fountain and how they interact. The first day I saw the Red-tail take a full bath on the lower portion of the fountain and then fly up to the top of the fountain to dry off . That was amazing!!
The details and focus are incredible, from the shimmer of the feathers to the reflection of the fountain water drops to the shine of the watchful eyes. Absolutely lovely.
